In this episode I review a custom HT2 in (Holy Toledo 2) E2 Technology by Sharpeye Surfboards. The HT2 is the same model that Filipe Toledo won the 2017 Hurley Pro at Trestles with slight differences according to Marcio Zouvi. With Filipe’s win at the Hurley event I was pretty excited to give this board a go at Lower Trestles.

In this review I get two Puddle Jumper HP surfboards from Lost to test. Both boards are stock 5’3” x 19.63 x 2.35 Liters of volume 26.75. The waves we got for testing were ideal for this model in the 1-3’ range.

The Go Fish by Rob Machado Twin Fin was quite the adventure for me. It took some getting used too at first but when I got the fins dialed in I started to have some fun.

In this surfboard review I finally get to test out my first Tomo (Daniel Thomson) surfboard, the SKX. I got this board in two different sizes and constructions. One board was sent down by Firewire in their LFT technology and the other was a custom by XTR I had done to test this board in smaller waves.

It’s a paradox that we as surfers all must face: the thrills, trials and tribulations of sweet summer time. Sure, we’re all eager to shed the layers of neoprene that we’ve been rocking all winter in waters cold enough to take our breath away, but lackluster summertime swell quells this excitement for warmer waves. 

The Cymatic is the natural hybrid of the Scifi and Omni models, continuing Tomos evolution of minimalistic highly engineered modern planning hull designs. Featuring a slightly more pulled in double bat tail, deeper quad inside single concave and increased rocker relative to the scifi, the Cymatic is an Avant Garde’ Ultra high performance Machine. Wave range 1-6ft. 

Inspired by the extreme rocker boards that Greg Webber and Shane Herring developed in the early 90’s, the BANANA is a far more user-friendly version that Kelly and Greg developed for intermediate to advanced surfers. And meant to be ridden in better than average conditions. The BANANA has a smooth outline curve from nose to tail, a slight bump wing in front of the fins, as well as a generous single to double concave bottom contour. The end result is an extremely high performance surfboard that can be pushed hard through turns, while holding it's own in deep barrels.

n this review I test out two stock Sci-Fi boards from Slater Designs. I surfed these two boards in 2-5’ surf with clean and windy conditions. The stock 5’7” at 26.2 liters felt good underfoot when the surf was clean but I struggled to get clean precise turns when the surf had some texture on it. 

Soft Top surfboards are great for beginners looking to get started surfing. They are lightweight, stable, and are more affordable than a normal fiberglass surfboard. For kids, soft top surfboards are great as they remove some of the injury risk associated with surfing. Many are also much more lightweight for easy carrying and transportation to and from the beach.
