The Pyzalien model from Pyzel Surfboards of our best loved designs ever! Technically it's a Stubbie, but this board really can take the place of any high-performance shortboard. It has a single concave running from the nose and under the front foot which blends into double concave and then VEE in the last 6 inches of the tail. This combo gives the board quick speed from take-off and great responsiveness. The outline has a fuller nose and wider tail which keeps the board very fast, while increasing the control and allowing for easier rail to rail transitions at high speed. It has a flat deck and full rails adding to the overall volume, so you should order it 1/8 inch thinner, 3-4 inches shorter and 1/4 to 1/2 inch wider than your shortboard. We know you’ll love it.
Great all around board for waves waist high to slightly overhead. I've ridden my PyzAlien in 2ft Florida slop to overhead El Salvadorean point breaks and everything in between. Pyzel himself refers to this board as a stubby non-shortboard and that may be true in Hawaiian terms but for most surfers in most locations this board is considered a high volume shortboard. I do not recommend this surfboard as a go to small wave board because it doesn't work the best in mushy conditions under waist high. It does work great in smaller surf that still has some punch and a vertical face.
In Conclusion: The PyzAlien is an incredibly fast board that is super responsive. With the wide point of the board being more forward under your front foot it allows for easier wave catching ability and flies through the flat spots on a wave. This board excels in punchy conditions no matter the wave size!
